1.      What kind of class is offered in your summer Chinese program?

Our summer Chinese program is designed for children who are non-native Chinese speakers.      This is a fundamental language class. We teach Chinese phonetics or “Pinyin” and simplified       characters.

2.        Do you have a true beginner Chinese class since my child has no previous Chinese learning experience?

Yes. The 1st grade is for true beginners. The class is held from 11:00AM - 12:30PM on Saturdays starting on June 2nd, 2012. The class covers Pinyin (拼音), Chinese Book1 (暨南中文第一册), and Basic Daily Conversation.

3.          How do I get the textbook that you listed in your website? How much do they cost?

If you register by May 21st, 2012, we will order the material for you; if you register after that date, there may be a delay since shipping will take 7-10 days. The cost is $10 for Pinyin and $20 for Chinese with VCD.

4.         What is the exact schedule so that we can plan our family vacation?

Summer class begins on 6/2/2012, ends on 8/25/2012. You can take your vacation during the weeks, or make an arrangement with the teacher for make ups to pay $25 per hour if we can find time for you.

5.         How much is the tuition to register for the summer class? Can I pay monthly?

Tuition: The group rate is $14 per hour ($21 per week) for each student in the small group class. Duration of class is 1.5 hours per week. The total tuition for this summer is $273 for 13 weeks 6/2 - 8/25/2012. You can pay upfront to get a 5% discount. You can pay monthly on the 1st class of each month.

6.          What is the age group that will be enrolled in the summer class?  I have a 4-year old, can I bring him in? What is the class size?

We expect the average student to be between 5+ and 10 years of age.  Grade placement is based on previous learning experience. From our observations, age 5+ is great for learning a new language. We currently cannot accommodate 4 year-olds, given the 90 min classes duration.  The class size starts from 3 and up to 8.

7.          What are the contents in each grade? How do you arrange these activities in the 1.5 hour?

The class will consist of 4 different learning activities. Students will practice pinyin (Chinese phonetics), study Chinese characters, read short stories and have conversations. Each grade will have a different emphasizes.
